Like when your bicycle wakes up with a completely flat rear tire that won’t hold any air.
Throw it in the back and off we go.
RIP 3-series Touring (in the US ) (and with 6 cylinders and a manual before that) (and with rear wheel drive before that).

i do really want my next car to be a wagon. I might even take an automatic. As long as it’s diesel.

I wish I could find a wagon new enough (since the mid-aughts) and cheap enough (about $5k) for my next vehicle, but I’m probably gonna end up with a hatchback instead.

yeah tough luck there. I’m looking at 2014-17 328d F31s but they are still in the 27-30k range so it’ll be a loooong time before i feel comfortable there.
Only wagons under 5k I can think of would be NA Imprezas, and maybe a Saab 93 Sportcombi like this one

you could even find an Aero.

for a litte more you coudl get a face lift

I used to own a manual e39 wagon, I posted in on CL and it was gone in about 20 hours! I miss it some times.

Or a Vaixhall/Opel with Flexfit.

Hmmmm... my father was a Saab man before he became a Tesla guy.
How do these tend to hold up long term? I’m guessing not doing so well in the department might be why they’re going for cheaper than anything else.

Nah. I’ve fit a bike in my Golf. Don’t need a wagon for that if a tiny hatch can do it. I am jealous of your wagon, though. It’s so classy.

Yeah idk, the could be okay. I think most people are scared of Saab because it’s weird and dead.

My wagon * is* tiny! Just snapped this:
Most sedans with a folding rear seat could probably have done this job, but it feels nicer with a wagon :P

That’s pretty neat!

E46 and B6/B7 wagons go for under 5k all day long. I’m hardly hoping for that when I sell mine, and it’s manual!

He says he was looking for later 2000s so that ruled out e46. I wouldn’t buy a sub 5k pre LCI e90. I can’t speak for the A4 avant- tho. That could be a decent suggestion especially with the 2.0t engine

Every day is wagon day for me.

We seem to have different definitions of “tiny.” I did the math and my car is just barely than an Aveo hatch.
